I didn't know how to put it into the title since I forgot what it is called and the folks that were making it. I never did quite pick up any of the fellows sight gear since I was always a gun ahead of where he was catching up from. That and most all of his stuff was for the semi auto guy rather than me (a mainly revolver guy and right now I'm only a revolver guy). He relied heavily upon front and rear dovetails for his stuff to be installed. The basic idea was an offshoot of the regular peep or ghost ring sights. The only main difference was the fact that the rear sight was not a circle, but rather a hexagon. Corners (not the flats) formed the top and side portions of the rear sight. In that way there was a specific line that could be mentally drawn between two opposing points of the rear sight and the front sight was mindlessly centered right where it should be. His sight (which I can't seem to find) shows a couple of animated videos which shows this concept really good. Besides getting the front sight at the proper height for the rear and barrel length, he'd machine a couple of crossing lines into the front sight blade so that the otherwise black front blade, sparkled in the least amount of light and clearly was seen as the aiming point for the sight set up.

He had an offer for you to mail (separately of course) some of your ammunition either factory or home-brew for him to sight in the new equipment. You could also call the shots for as far as distance was concerned (within reason of course). No 500 yard sighting for your 22 Mark II. Last item he was working on was a blank that would fit into the Ruger sight assembly of their double action revolvers so that it could be soldered into the channel and then the dovetail cut into the block and the edges of the channel that came up and around the block. Kind of a cheap way to get the Wiley Clapp idea on an existing Ruger double action.

Anyway, if any of you folk know what this sighting set up was called, or who makes it, or a link/anything that would allow me contact with the gent as I'd like to bounce a couple of ideas off of him on new project guns. Thanks to any that can help. Smithy.

I may be giving those hex sights a try... spoke with the owner of the company yesterday regarding his product. A very interesting 30min conversation based on an email I sent only hours before... Tim (owner) seems like a great guy who has a unique product... had no idea these had been around since the early 90's. Tim is passionate and enthusiastic about his sights, and i'm willing to give em' a run since his principles behind them are sound... and he took the time to discuss his product and answer all my questions, addressing any concerns I had regarding low light usage.

Planning on getting a set for a Glock and doing a full review here after extensive testing. Should be interesting.
