    Guide Rod Laser

Anyone have any experience with these? I know they are expensive. Please take that out of the equation and just talk about how well it works, battery life, auto shutoff when slide racks open on empty mag, and so forth. What do you like about it and what do you not like about it (excluding price).

I am curious too. I saw them and am considering the investment.

My neighbor/friend down the street is a Constable in the county and carries a Glock 23 duty gun with the guide rod laser. He loves it. He's been carrying it with the laser for at least 5 years. And if it malfunctions or loses battery life, no big deal. If I had the money, I'd have one.

This is a major concern for me as well. I am looking at purchasing my first 1911 and was looking at including changing the rod from the very start. Would love to get more feedback from people who own and do/do not use them.

I have the lazermax guide rod in my XD40sc. After about 1000 rounds now and occational use, I had only one instance of the switch turning on while holstered and a dead battery as the result. It has a tendency of turning off after each shot and having to reset to turn it on between shooting, which is not good. I guess its a compromize as its very convienient not having additional bulk or obtaining a special holster to accomidate an external lazer.
