The Mall Gun Shop Today 12/26/12

Wow guys, just got back from breaking in my Kel-tec PF-9 but I also wanted to write about something trippy that happened at the gun store and is probably happening in gun stores all over.

The AR-15s were all gone. This is in Iowa by the way. I had seen some nutnfancy videos about "firearmageddon" he's visiting gun store across the U.S. But even in places like Utah and the other state of the gun store he visited, they still had acouple ARs (like 3-4 maximum) though many of the places were out of 5.56 and .223 ammo which our gun store was not out of them.

Our store was actually almost out of 9mm!!! That was scary, I also went to buy an extra PF-9 clip and was scarred shitless because there were almost no pistol mags except the expensive ones but definitely no hi capacity magazines. Luckily they had an overpriced PF-9 mag.

And thats the last thing, gun prices are up dudes. The PF-9 at the store went from $270 -> 299 I can't imagine what everything else was up to. And bullet prices I couldnt guess.

Anyways, what are you guys seeing...

AR's and .223's are pretty much gone here too. No high capacity mags on the shelves. I'm waiting to see if the current admin. is going to raise taxes or turn over ammo to the EPA ad make it hard to get ammo or reloading components. A local gun dealer thinks it may raise taxes on guns and ammo as much as an additional 30%. I'm hoping he's wrong but I'm well stocked on components for reloading and cast most of my own.

I'm trying to stock up on ammunition -> 9s, 40s, and 380s but the prices were jacked up yesterday, hopefully they come down and it was just an after-christmas sort of thing

The AR stuff is crazy high right now everywhere. I went to a gun show last weekend before Christmas, and $600 ARs were selling for $2000 + and people were lined up to buy them. $15 AR high capacity magazines were selling for as much as $100, and a case of .223 ammo that was $400 a few weeks ago was selling for $1000. Fortunately, most of the rest of the stuff at the show including handguns was still pretty reasonable. I didn't see any great deals, but did pick up a case of 9mm for a good price.

Just have to wait for the craziness to die down, or for the liberal gun fanatics to find another cause.

The wholesale price has not moved. The dealers are gouging the public into a buying frenzy and getting fat!!!!

I am very good friends with one of the sales people at mylocal gun shop and we were talking the other day. He told me that there saleshave tripled over the past two weeks. When I was in last Saturday they had noAK's or AR type rifles left and the handgun case was very bare. They normallykeep a very large stock of firearms in the store but they were getting close toonly having what was in the cases. I did not see any increases in the prices.

Having been there and done that, I feel compelled to tell you that the profit margins on guns and ammunition are so low that I would not be upset at a local walk-in dealer who "jacked up" prices a modest amount to profit from a momentary panic.
Store-front dealers can't normally charge a decent profit because of the competition, including that of mail-order outlets with lower overhead. That makes doing business a difficulty, and turns normally-honest people into gun-dealing weasels who squeeze nickles until the buffalo bellows.

The primary business of my store-front was making leather goods to order, but I had a license and was a gun dealer.
The gun-business profit margin was so low that I finally would not carry guns or ammunition in stock, and would only place orders for retail customers who were willing to wait a couple of days for fulfillment. I charged the wholesale price, plus shipping, plus a flat handling fee for doing all of the paperwork.
Even then, a couple of not-too-distant "big box stores" could beat my price!

I went to academy sports, gander mountain, and Wal-Mart the other day to get some .45 ammo and they were all out. No 9s, .556, or .223 either. Can't find an AR or ak locally either. People are really freakin out right now. Not that I blame them, I would've gotten an AR if my bank account would've allowed it.

Natchez Shooters Supplies has five pages of 25 .223/5.56 line items per page. All--every single item...Out of Stock. However, their .45acp was not bad, and it looked like some prices had dropped. WWB 100-rd Value Pack, for example was around $34--higher than a year ago, but better than last month.

I began stocking up on AR and .45acp last Feb, when it became evident that the GOP would have no viable candidate for president. I have around 2,500 rounds for the AR and 1,200 of .45, but now I hesitate to use them, for fear that I cannot replenish at a reasonable price, and I still need a bunch for Armageddon.

That was great!!! I don't think the GOP is gonna have anybody good coming out of their platform from here on out, where has the GOP been on this Gun Control talk? Nowhere thats where... They are with the liberals on this stuff...
