    Investment handguns

I was just wondering if there are any presently made handguns that would be for an investment - ie something that you would not shoot and keep NIB that will go up in price value over the years?

That's one good thing about a QUALITY firearm. If you buy one, and keep it stored properly, chances are very good that it will increase in value over the years.

Way back in 1977, I bought a nickel Colt Python with a 4" bbl. Cost me $350.00 + tax. If I still had that same gun today, NIB, I could easily get close to, or approaching $2K......give or take.

But, it's all about buying a good brand. Many will debate which is a good brand. It might be easier to list the not so good brands.

Taurus will not appreciate. Ruger is kind of a crap-shoot, but historically will not appreciate. Rossi is junk and not really worth what they get when purchased new.

I could go on, but just pay attention to the lessor known brands. Stay away from them.

Well put.In today's flooded market you'd have to be psychic or buy a top quality gun at an early age and wait 1/2 your life or more.At the moment I can't think of a single production handgun that I would bother with buying for that purpose. There's really nothing special in anything now, short of maybe some of the revolver hand cannons or a special run,and there's no promises there.

    thanks for both comments
rex: your thoughts were very close to mine and i wanted to see if others had your comment
this hasn't gotten a lot of feedback - maybe because you are right - "can't think of a single production handgun that I would bother with buying for that purpose"
like i said your comment was how i was thinking - S&W 460mag or S&W 500 mag or Ruger Alaskan snub nose 44mag (for something unique)
I wish more nickel plated revolvers were available - better yet I would like to see a HIGHLY POLISHED MIRROW like finish stainless steel gun
