Well, I guess, if you like Glock's,and they'll pay for your ammo, IMHO, no brainer.......If you don't like Glock's, then you've got s stickler...what's wrong with Ruger, and HK, and the list goes on and on.......

It all depends on you agency's policy, and what is authorized.

My agency will issue a Glock fotay, but you may provide your own name-brand semi auto in 40SW or 45 ACP for uniformed guys, plain clothes like me can go as small as 9mm. We have a great alternate weapon policy. I'm carrying one of my three XD pistols now.

They will let me carry any of three the problem is i just don't know which one to choose because they are all great guns I have been leaning more toward the G23 because they will pay for my ammo and because i can get the G27 as a BUG and i will have two great CCWs for off-duty use the thing is i dont want to over look the stopping power of the .45 ACP

I think you have solved your problem. Start with the G23/G27 combo and maybe add something else to your collection later. Glock's are ultra-reliable and simple, the .40 is nastier than you might think and having access to free ammo makes it much easier to become comfortable and proficient with your tool. Also, as you stated having a scaled down version of the same gun for ccw makes the transition between the two natural and easy. I think you are using good logic and are leaning in the right direction.

    G23.

Master the gun, there is so little difference in effectiveness between service pistol cartridges that it is not a relevant argument.

Yes,don't worry over the ammo debate,it's a 6 and one 1/2 dozen of the other thing.I prefer the 45 but free ammo is free ammo.
