Paul, I enjoy watching your videos. You asked for input, so here's mine. I have been using CLP silicone spray for about 20 years. Like Ballistol, I just spray it on and watch it foam. Then I scrub and wipe away everything that is not gun.

I have a ton of white T-shirts that I used to wear at my old job. I seem to get a lot of pleasure out of shredding them into cleaning patchs and rags. Instead of Q tips I use a jewelers screwdriver or small allen wrench to push the patchs into channels, grooves, etc. After cleaning I leave a light residue of CLP that drys to a silicone film. I also hit the obvious wear points with gun oil from a medical syringe.
