Hello, I posted in a earlier post about finding the right handgun that feels good to me. Well, after sometime standing in a local gunshop and looking at about everything they had I have came to a conculsion. I like the firearms that have a very short and light trigger pull similar to a 1911 style trigger single action. I do not have a fondness of the stryker fired no hammer firearms like the glock or xdm, etc. I like the feel of the Walther PK380 or Beretta PX4 and lord help me the 22LR Mosquito just because it wasn't as thick and good get a really good grip on the fire arm, also got to hold a M&P shield dummy gun non-firing non-working firearm. I have found that I can grasp the narrow slender guns better than the wider double stack guns.
Now, comes the meat of this. I'm looking for something similar to the PK380, PX4, Mosquito, Shield, 1911 style that has a nice feel to it narrow and able to get a decent grip on it and doesn't feel bulky in my hand. I know I can stand in a gun shop for hours looking and feeling of how the gun rests in my hands but around here most gun shops look at you weird that I have no idea what I'm doing but some guns don't appeal/fell right to me and there are so many out there.
The main thing I'm looking for is a narrow thickness gun maybe single stack, has a safety and/or decocker espically like the mosquito which is a nice feel and seems very logical and simple. Also, like the firearms with ambidextrous slide release and safety or decocker. And this is more geared toward my wife being a southpaw and its really hard for her or cumbersome for her to release a slide using her right hand while holding the firearm with her left hand if she had a slide release and safety on the right side of the gun she could use her left thumb. The reasoning for posting this my wife and I are looking for concealed carry and range shooting firearms. The only thing that has appealed to her is the Mosquito due to it being very easy to rack and decock then holster. But as I explained to her a 22LR isn't much for a concealed carry its more for the range, and we tried te PK380 but she didn't like the idea of rack to lock then insert the magazine and rack again to issue a round into the chamber then having to decock with hammer/trigger pull motion she was very timid to that.
I'm just wanting to know what your recommendations are on a narrow thickness, easy to rack, decock and has ambidextrous slide release and safety's, also with a very soft and short trigger pull like say on a cocked 1911 with is very short and light trigger pull. And this being in caliber suitable for concealed carry and range/target use.
Thanks,
