i've got many sigs & carry a glock 30, 10+1
I live in Oklahoma & California but spend most of my time in Calif. So my thinking is with Calif's 10 round magazine limit I'm better off with 10 rounds of .45 than 10 rounds of 9mm. Now if I was mostly out of Calif. I figure I'd be better off with 15+ rounds of 9MM. Make sense? Oh I haven't noticed much difference in my shooting between .45 & 9mm... Thanks, B

Reasoning sounds good to me if you shoot both calibers equally well.
if you are a proficient shot, doesnt matter what you carry
I shoot 9mm because ammo is less. But if you own a
blown hemi in a 32 then ammo might not become an issue to you.
I know the. 45,s weight over the 9mm might be an issue. Kinda pure yer choice. Hg
Thank you Bearone2, Denner, T-55A5, TedDeBearFrmHell & Hemmigremmie, LOL, actually times were better when I built the '32! I always keep the same username/password no matter what site I'm on. Car, Gun, Personal. That way I don'tforget it!. Hemmigremmie, you must have a Gremlin with a Hemi in it?? I actually plan on getting the .22 conversion for my Sig for practice. Yes the .45 weights more, but the weight never bothers me... I see several folks carrying 10+1's and you don't live in Calif, so you must prefer .45 over 9mm... I need a lot of practice but don't think i'm a better or worse shot with either... Thanks again, Bill
Nine's are a lot cheaper to shoot, less kick, generally somewhat smaller, etc. and with modern ammo just about as effective for defense---thats my take---but then, I do shoot both.
I shoot them both and like them both.
But I like Sig's the best.
They come in each caliber (as most brands do) ..
I like to mostly carry one brand ... own many brands for fun .. but carry one brand.
Same manual of arms regardless of which caliber you decide to carry.
Carry .45 one day ... 9mm the next day ... 40 cal the next .
All same manual of arms..
Example
Sig P220 Compact in .45
Sig P229 in 9mm
Sig P229 in .40 cal
All operate exactly the same.

i agree with same platform, controls in the same place.
i have/had sigs for years, love german engineering, styling & functionality but don't like the long da pull for 1st round in a sd/hd situation & haven't ventured into
the sao compact, which is/was about $550 at cdnn some time back.
Simple enough....carry what you are proficient with, stay safe and train well....JJ
Thank you Jyo, Dondavis3, Bearone2 & Chessail77. I stopped by a gun store today & held the P226! Wow, nice feeling gun for sure. It just felt 'right'... Maybe next? When I'm not in Calif. I could carry the 9mm w/ 18 round mag! & cheaper ammo...I hope the DA/SA doesn't bother me. I originally though I wanted to keep it to .45 cal for simplicity sake. Limit the number of calipers I'd have to get. But, doesn't look like it's going to work like that. I'm sure everyone goes thru this though. And yes, I need to 'pick a platform'... Thanks again! Bill
