I do not believe that they are quite that expensive, but that is a decent price.
I had a Dan Wesson in the past, and the gun worked w/o any issues. I have read mixed stuff about this particular model on the 1911 forums, though - U may want to go research past threads on both of those forums. I am not sure I would buy one after what I've read...

Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail .45
Anyone familiar with this? It's a 1911 SA and I have a chance to pick up an almost brand new one for around $700. I think they retail for about $1100. (Are my facts straight on this?). Beautiful gun and extremely accurate. It felt great in my hand. I only shot a few rounds through it but, man, what an impressive gun?!

I don't know how they stand behind them. You can get A S&W $680 up and they stand behind there guns. My 2 cents.
