TV scenes I'd like to see

Typical TV scene: The bad guy, who is about 6 feet tall, grabs a hostage (always a blond woman or child) who is about 5 feet tall. He holds a knife to the victim's throat and yells at the cop, "Drop the weapon or I'll kill her!"

The cop, who is only 8 to 10 feet away, gingerly lays his weapon on the ground. (Then the rest of the show is about talking the bad guy into releasing the hostage.)


My version: The bad guy, who is about 6 feet tall, grabs a hostage (always a blond woman or child) who is about 5 feet tall. He holds a knife to the victim's throat and yells at the cop, "Drop the weapon or I'll kill her!"

The cop, who is only 8 to 10 feet away thinks to himself, "Hey, this is one of the easiest shots in the world." and then places a single round of .40 caliber right at the bridge of the bad guy's nose. The bad guy crumbles to the ground and dies instantly. The hostage cries hysterically and runs into the embrace of her savior. The TV show is over. I've not wasted 45 minutes listening to talky-talky-talky about getting the hostage out.


What re-written scenes would you like to see?

Note: Tom Selleck in "Blue Bloods" takes the shot and ends the crisis neatly. Way to go Tom! (And with a snubbie, no less.)

the end of Taken has a terribly fat dude who grabs a tall skinny girl and puts a knife to her throat.......Liam Niesman is 10 feet away and drops the fat guy like a real bad habit........very nicely played!!!!!! No ones ears seem any the less worse for wear. One of my favorite movie shots ever!!!

My version: A despondent man holds a gun and threatens to kill himself. A cop arrives. He is just 6 to 8 feet away and thinks to himself, "Hey, this is one of the easiest shots in the world." and then places a single round of .40 caliber right at the bridge of the bad guy's nose. The bad guy crumbles to the ground and dies instantly. The show is over and I've not wasted another 45 minutes on this stupid show.

My version #2: A despondent man holds a gun and threatens to kill himself. A cop arrives. He is just 6 to 8 feet away and thinks to himself, "Hey, this is one of the easiest shots in the world." and then places a single round of .40 caliber right in his shooting shoulder. He drops the weapon immediately. Unfortunately the show constinues with its talky-talky trying to rid the despondent man of his demons.

I like the first version better. What scenes would you re-write?

LOL the wife and I were watching "Criminal Minds" last night and it was the episode that was a copy of "Vacany" where there's a serial killer trapping couples in a motel room and raping the wife killing the husband etc.

We just kind of laughed...we'd like to see it re-written so that while the husband is providing cover with one of three guns the wife is making other field expedient weapons...chair screwed in the floor? Wife whips out her multi-tool. Oh the killer snuck in and stole "X"? Lets break the mirror and make shank out of a shard of glass, my hair brush and some hair things (you know, those little elastic bands?) Oh hey look, they left the lamp here, this makes a good club...

Oh what's this? The old flip the lights on and off? We'll fix that and kill the lights, we've got flashlights, let the bastard come in while it's dark...

You get the point. Killer gets whopped up on/shot dead and cut to pieces. Couple walks out without a scratch.

Detective Superintendent Jane Tennyson (Helen Mirren) tells her Boss, Mike, exactly where to stuff it, and quits the force in complete disgust. She runs into a good looking, friendly older guy in her neighborhood pub, and, after a short but sexy courtship, she marries him. Since he's an excellent cook, they live happily ever after in a small, vine-covered cottage amid the Sussex Downs.
Thus ends the original Prime Suspect, which has been on screen for exactly one season too long, and has run out of good plot-lines.

I was watching my free HBO weekend a couple weeks ago and saw Cop Out with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. Not that good a movie, but there is a hostage scene involving a Single Mom gun owner and Tracy Morgan as the hostage which is priceless. It really was the highlight of the Movie, I would watch it again, just for that one scene.

You forget that all TV scenes require some dialogue. I would suggest this revision:

"Whatever," says the responding officer; he shrugs his shoulders, turns and leaves.

Man, this is just wrong.

Knucklehead 6 footer takes our petite 5' blonde hostage. He has the gun to her head, but is only holding her loosely. Our intrepid hero enters the room. BG threatens to kill her, blah, blah, blah. A look passes between the hostage and hero.

She goes limp, dropping like a sack of potatoes. As she hits the ground, the first of three rounds plugs BG center mass.

I've seen several movies/shows where a guy holding a pump shot gun actually pumps it once (to threaten someone), then doesn't shoot it, then pumps it again later, doesn't shoot, then finally pumps it and shoots. Don't those Hollywood writers realize you only pump it once?

The good guy and his partner get in a fire fight. They kill all but one of the bad guys, but one of the partners takes a couple of .40 caliber rounds to the chest.

Standard TV fare: The good guy loads his partner into his Dodge SRT8 Hemi powered Challenger. He races madly to the hospital. All the while looking over at his bleeding partner and yelling, "Keep awake man! Hang on! You're gonna make it! Don't you be dieing on me you hear! Don't you be dieing!"

At the hospital the good guy dies, and the living partner swears revenge. He spends the rest of the movie chasing the bad guy (played by James Remar). Makes the best grossing revenge flick since Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were kings.

Revised for reality:

The good guy and his partner get in a fire fight. They kill all but one of the bad guys, but one of the partners takes a couple of .40 caliber rounds to the chest.

The good guy that has no injury looks at his wounded partner and says, "Hey man, you ain't gonna make it. No sense getting blood all over the leather upholstery. I'll just call it in and they'll send a van."

At the scene good guy is declared dead, and the living partner swears revenge. He spends the rest of the movie chasing the bad guy (played by James Remar). Makes the best grossing revenge flick since Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were kings.
