    Simple question

    Purchased my first handgun still in box so should i automatically strip it down and clean before i go to the range to fire?

    Yes. Many new firearm owners fail to read the owners manual which is a no, no. I would suspect your owner's manual would advise you to do the same.

    When you say strip it down, you mean field strip right?
    Detail strip could be more than you'd like. On some guns it could be... challenging. As stated previously read your manual. Once you get past all of the lawyer mandated warnings, they should have the info you need. Also, if you run into difficulty, Youtube is your friend.
