Ok got my unrestricted permit. Started with a Browning Buckmark 22 to get used to guns. Then a carry weapon a S&W 340PD Now what should I get next? Yes I have the bug. Not sure if a semi auto 9mm, 40 cal or 1911. Or should I stick with revolvers. I do like the 340 but what a kick and the 357 are something else. Any advice welcomed. Thanks.

9mm would be next

- 9mm has cheap ammo, lot of models to choose from, all sizes and weights and trigger types, and you can easily carry. My recommendations: Cz 2075 or 75 compact, S&W M&P, Beretta PX4, Keltec.
- .380 auto would be second choice....ammo not as cheap, but guns that are more easily concealed, adequate self defense HP ammo, and small pocket carry options. My recommendations: Bersa ThunderCC, Cz 83, Ruger LCP.
- .45ACPwould be third choice for maximum firepower and reasonable concealed carry options. Expensive ammo, though. My recommendations: Taurus 24/7, Fullsize 1911 styles.

That depends on what you want to use the gun for. The post by cclaxton pretty much breaks it down for you. The most important thing is that you buy something that you will hit your target with while still maintaining a reasonable rate of fire. I prefer pistols that are a little larger, but fire a smaller to medium power caliber size myself. My carry gun, most of the time, is a Beretta Model 84F. It is a mid-sized pistol that fires, what I would consider, the smallest self defense caliber one would want to use, the
.380 ACP. I keep it loaded with either Hornady Critical Defense or Remington Golden Sabers. JMHO.
