UPDATE: Was it the gun or the Ammo

Well I've now put 600 rds thru this gun (PT-145 Millenium Pro)...the ONLY problems out of 5 different types of ammo were on the 2 seperate boxes of Winchester White Box I've used, I thought it was just the ammo, HOWEVER, when I had a failure to fire today (only 1 of 50 Winchesters, as opposed to 5 of 50 the other day), I ejected it and took this picture...all five of the other failures fired on a second strike so I didn't get a chance to analyise them...I thought it was just the ammo, but this looks like a light strike -UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER- compared to the rest, still, it has NEVER happened on any other type of ammo but was purvasive in the WWB:?: :?: :?: I'm at odds, no problems with any other types, yet this looks like a classic light strike ???? Can't be coincidence after 600 rounds, only 2 boxes of which were Winchester, can it?

Yes, the upper right does seem a little light, but those elongated firing pin strikes on all the others indicate the barrel is starting to unlock while the firing pin is still out.

It might be time for new springs all around.

I don't know what to tell U - if it were me - and I was gonna use this as a defense gun - I think I would send it in, despite the shipping cost.

I consider a gun reliable w/ 200 rounds thru it - but your circumstances are different - I would always have some doubt.

+1 What waterburybob said. Springs are cheap.

I agree with WaterBury Bob but I am not a gun smith and I would take Shipwrecks advice. Send it back to the Pro's and let them fix it.

Another consideration that I've been contemplating, is...being that it's a DAO gun and I'm used to firing the short SA follow ups, ...the only time I've had this happen was during rapid fire...is there some way I am short-stroking the trigger and not letting it fully reset, maybe only catching the firing mechagnism halfway and letting it release before it is fully sprung?

FYI: That's Trademark Taurus...I've already researched it....not that I'm happy about it, but it's the norm.

Can that happen on the LDA? Might ought to send it back...???

Kinda funny if you look at all of the Winchesters in the group, they are generally shallower than the other primer hits...I'm thinking of putting this gun in service, but never shooting Winchesters out of it ??? Keep in mind that I've had absolutely zero, non-winchester failures. :smt068...then again, maybe I'll send it in for an opinion.

As long as the trigger is reseting enough to even do the strike, that shouldn't matter...

I would send it back, and print that photo of the closeup and include it.

I had a PT22 that I sold to my mother - I had to send it in 1x when I very first got it like 8 years ago - U can call Taurus, but I don't think they make any notes - they just tell U to send it in w/ a note - so, chances are, they won't have any info until they open your package anyway. So, justpack it up and send it off on your own.

It sucks to have issues w/ a new gun - I know...

How many rounds total have you sent down the pipe???


I won't carry a gun until it has had 500+ with NO failures of any kind. With various brands of ammo. Thats just me though.
