Not really a big difference, besides if it bothers you that much I'm sure there's an aftermarket steel guide rod available for the 92FS somewhere.
Hello every one, new to this site not new to guns or forums. I picked up a new c z .75 phantom the other day for a song, Now I think I want the Beretta 92. Dont get me wrong the c z is nice but its so big. I know the barrels are about the same length, but the grip on the cz is longer, and I dont like the way it field strips, and I dont like plastic recoil spring guide rods, So I look at the 92 what do I see? plastic recoil spring guide rod. Does this make a difference? compared to steel? I noticed smith, ruger, even taurus and some others all use steel?

I shoot a CZ SP-01 (not the phantom version) every week and put probably 300 rounds per week throgh it. Sometimes more when I really get into practicing or there is weekend matches. It has a plasttic guide rod. I have over 5000 rounds through it now and plan on another 3000 before the summer is over. I have the utmost cofidence in it. As a matter of fact is has never crossed my mind as a concern. What don't you like about how it feild strips? Its real easy. I own a couple CZ's all plastic guide rods, some CZ clones, steel guide rods. No noticable differance to me. If you don't like the CZ the lesson to learn is just don't buy a gun because you can get it for a song. Like it if you are going to buy it.
