    storing pistol

Hi, Do you weaken the magazine spring if it is left loaded for long periods of time. Like a month or two. I like to leave a clip loaded for home defense. thanks

Nope, do that all the time. I just rotate through the clips maybe twice a year.

Some now say it isn't necessary, but in the past, most people would load 1 less in the mag, if it's just a gun that stays loaded around the home.

That is what I do - 15 round magazine - I just keep 14 in it.

There's been a lot of discussion about this all over the internet forums. I believe the consensus now is that leaving the mag loaded will not damage or "set" the spring. The flexing of the spring during use is actually harder on it than leaving a mag loaded for long periods of time.

You won't hurt your mags by leaving them loaded....
