Well, on a standard 1911, Wilson mags are usually considered the best - but that is a hi capacity 1911, isn't it? I think the only one who makes those mags is para.
As most know, I am trading for a Para 14. It has one factory magazine and it seems I read somewhere that the factory mags aren't the best choice. Does anyone know the truth and also what is a good source of magazines? Thanks in advance and regards, Richard![]()

I've heard that also. I've heard nothing definitive as far as how true it might be. I've got two sold to my friend when he gets a P14 (neither one of us have one yet). If you get any information other than on here, post it up. I'd really like to know (since I bought them during the ban and paid waaaay too much).Originally Posted by Richard
You can order some 13 round Mec-Gar mags from Gary at Az Gunrunners for about $20. I used them in my Springfield wide body and they are GREAT! Here's a link to the page scroll down to Para Hi cap.

I ordered 2 Mec-Gars from Top Gun Supply. I will see and report on how they work. Thanks and regards, Richard![]()
Mec-Gars are excellent - I use them in my P16-40 Limited.
Mec-Gar is the manufacturer of the factory magazines for many of the firearms companies.
When I bought my hi cap springfield it came with one mag.
Para maga in my area go for $58 at local gunshop so
you can bet I purchased from catlogs.
