I have the 40 and the 45, love both and carry the 40 daily
I just picked up a new S&W M&P .40. I've been shooting a GP 100 .357 for a while now. I shot my buddies M&P last Friday and was quite impressed with it,,, so I went and got one.
I brought it home this morning and test drove it. WOW, is it accurate and consistent. It's my 1st semi-auto and I think we're gonna get along just fine.
What do you guys think about the M&P .40 ? Let me hear the good and the bad. You're not going to hurt my feelings...

I have the .45, and it the best handgun I have owned to date. Love the interchangable grips. Had to put the large one on, and the gun fits like a glove. Something about it, it just feels right... More than happy with my purchase..
I put around 20,000 trouble free rounds through an early M&P40. I switched to a M&P45 only because the 45 recoil felt better on my arthritic wrists.
If I could fix my wrists I would get another in a heart beat.

Congratulations, I am sure you will enjoy it.
I've had my M&P40/357Sig for about a year now. Since you can have both calibers with just a barrel swap I love this platform. When I carry the M&P40 I usually shoot Federal HST 165grain JHP, I have found them to be extremely accurate. When I carry the M&P357Sig(Barrel Swap) I normally shoot Speer Gold Dot 125grain JHP. I like the 40S&W equally with the 357Sig. I believe either round will put a stop rather quickly to someone attacking you with well placed shots.
I wasn't aware that a barrel swap could convert my M&P .40 to a .357 SIG. I've never shot a SIG of any kind. I do however have two 50 round boxes of .357 SIG that I purchased by mistake a couple of weeks ago. Actually, I told the guy to give me two boxes of .357 Magnum rounds for my GP 100 and didn't look at them before putting them in my shopping cart.My Fault.
Any idea what the .357 SIG barrel would cost me ? I really like the thought of having a 2 in 1 pistol.
I'm going to put a few more rounds down range later on today. I really like this new gun...![]()

Thanks for the info Hunter08. I'm going to order it right now. I'm liking this new gun more and more.
Hunter08,
I can't find the barrel at Midway USA. I'm not doing something right. I'm not very PC savvy. Could you post the link to it for me ?
