I'm looking to buying a small revolver (almost pocket sized). I was hoping I could get some advice or recommendations. My budget is around 400.00 but willing to spend a little more if I can find one I think is worth it.
I'm guessing you want to CC? Pocket carry maybe?
Ruger LCR, a whole slew of S&W airweights, Taurus 85. All lightweight .38's. Want a little heavier?...look at a Ruger SP101, S&W model 60.
Need more info to point you in a more definite direction.
The only thing you will find under $400 are the Taurus revo's. I like their older revo's, but I'm not so sure I would trust my life to any of their current lineup, especially since there are better revos for not too much more.
If you are willing to go a tiny bit over your budget, then you might be able to find a Ruger LCR or a Smith 442/642. Either one would be fine for your purposes. Choice would most likely be determined by fit, unless you have an unusual level of brand loyalty.
If you don't mind buying used, you can look around for a Colt Cobra or Detective Special or Agent. The nice thing about the Colts is that they are six rounds, instead of five.
A S&W airweight is a good back choice.
I have a S&W 642 for mine (Pocket). Sometimes depending on apparal it's my primary but mostly my BUG.
My other choice would have been this if first wasn't availible: CIA MODEL 850 .38 SPL.
My back up is a Beretta 21-A
