Ran a double charged case through my XD and she blew

I'm an avid reloader, but just like everybody else I make mistakes. To make a long story short I was making up some 40 S&W loads in my Dillon 550b and I must have gotten side tracked. I pulled the handle twice and threw a double charge. Not realizing this I shot that round at the range and I knew it really kwik. I felt powder burn on my face (luckily I was wearing eye protection) and the round indicator flew off the gun as well as the extractor. what a rush! I sent the gun to Springfield and they brought it back to new! What service. Moral of the story? Be careful and pay attention to your loads.

As you have experienced, reloading is NOT the time to be side tracked. Even my wife knows that when I'm reloading, she just says "Ahem', and then waits until I finish the round I'm working on. Safety is more than just a word when working with stuff that goes "Bang".

Was that the story you told Springfield?
If so, did they fix it free of charge?
