Well, Finally Decided.
I posted a few weeks ago looking for opinions about the Springfield XD9, Ruger SR9, and Sig P6. A few chaps here replied (thanks) and helped a bit with the decision making process.
I was in the market for a 9mm pistol. I ruled out the P6 pretty quickly, due to the fact that it is a refurb, and I would prefer NIB. I was trying to stay in a certain price range so narrowed my search to the XD9 and SR9.
After much research, and handling both I decided on the SR9.
I really like the feel of it and the low barrel axis is also nice. I think that might help my daughter and wife shoot a little better.
I filled out the paperwork and put the deposit down, so now all I have to do is wait until after 12:33 p.m. July 2, and I can pick it up.

Here are some pics. Nothing fancy, but it is mine.
i took a lot of things into consideration when buying. Here is a quick rundown on my criteria:
1. Needed to feel comfortable for me and my wife.
2. 9mm.
3. Wanted a low barrel axis to minimize felt recoil for my wife and youngsters.
4. Good warranty.
5. Slimness for possible future concealed carry.
6. Under $500.00.
7. New, not used.
After a lot of deliberation and review reading, and actual gun handling, the Ruger SR-9 seemed to fit the bill.
I took it to the range and fired about 120 rounds through it. Shot very well. No failure-to-feeds, and it operated smoothly in all aspects. I did ok with it, but the majority of my handgun experience has been with a Ruger Mk I, and a 1851 Colt Navy cap and ball.
I bought it for home protection and target/plinking type stuff. I figure I will do WAY more target/plinking activities than home protection, hence the 9mm choice.
I would have to say that I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.
Oh, and I really dig Ruger's logo...:smt023
