I'm left handed and I do like weapons with ambi controls but it's not a deal breaker if it don't have it. I've learned to adapt pretty well with many weapons butif there's a way to set them up a little more lefty friendly I'll look for it.

Being a rightie, ambi controls aren't important to me.

However, I do have a CZ85 Combat that has ambi safety, ambi slide release, and ambi mag release(either/or). I'm holding on to it in case I loose my right hand in an industrial accident.

Ditto. Southpaw here and lack of ambi controls has never been a deciding factor in purchasing or operating a weapon. We live in a world of righties and when it comes to firearms, I'd rather learn how to use a weapon which is build for righties as this will help me avoid surprises on my introduction to new/fresh/unfamiliar weapons. In other words, firearms are always going to present controls for righties so [in my eyes] you might as well learn how to use them as a lefty.

In the case of the SP 2022, which as far as I can tell operates just like the P229 (both the and decocker on left of frame), I can engage either of these using my trigger finger. I personally think this adds a level safety as operating these levers means the firearm isn't to be fired, and what better way to make sure you're not going to accidentally discharge the weapon than by giving your index finger something else to do? Note, this is not a subsitution for general firearm safety, i.e. trigger finger is never on the trigger unless prepared to fire. It does, however, reinforce the notion by guaranteeing your finger is not in the trigger guard.

Also a lefty, I pretty much use my trigger finger or middle finger for everything. Middle finger for mag and index for slide. I have noticed that it requires less movement or repositioning of my left hand to operate the slide release and mag release. Now the safety on the other hand is much better with ambi controls.

In fact I just purchased a M&P and originally moved the mag release to the right side of the gun but have since moved it back. The way I have to reposition my hand to use my thumb for the mag release it puts the palm of my hand on the mag and hinders the drop.

H&K also has a couple ambi models if I am not mistaken.
