Mouse guns- worth a crap?

During my search for a CCW I have seen a lot of tiny semi-auto mouse guns out there, like the Beretta Tomcat, the Taurus version, etc and I was wondering, while I dont think they would be my choice for a main CCW weapon, are they fun to play around with, shoot, etc. Do they have any kind of accuracy? Maybe my choice of wording is poor as no gun is a toy to play around with, but are they fun to have just to have. If I got one it would most likely be in .22 as I would think that would be the best/cheapest for plinking and what not, but if they are no fun I would hate to waste the money. What do yall think?

I really like my walther P22 its a great feeling, shooting pistol. I would also like to get a 32 but not sure what to get. I would like to get the top of the line in hopes of having a reliable 32 But i dont know enough about 32s to know whats the best. I would assume walther or cz???

I picked up a Baretta Bobcat 21 which is a 22 LR "mouse gun" for my wife. I had purchased a Walther P22 which she disliked for whatever reason (her P22 is 100% reliable and accurate) but she loves the Baretta.

The Bobcat is a fun gun to shoot - the one I have is as accurate as I am although it takes a good eye and a very steady hand to get small groups due to the short sight radius. It has been 100% reliable with CCI mini mags and stingers. I put a box or two of Stingers through it and it was fun to shoot especially with the muzzle flash!

I would consider the the Bobcat as a CCW weapon, with Stingers in it, in the summer when I wanted something extremely small and lightweight although it would not make my short list as a primary CCW weapon. It would also get put on the list of something I would keep in the car in case of emergency. As a fun plinker at the range it is great.

I have a Kel-tec P32, it has proven itself to be both accurate and reliable. I often take it with me when walking the dog or making a quick run to the store. It carries 7 rounds, is very lightweight and absolutely disappers inside my waistband or pocket.

I believe that these type of guns serve a useful but very specific purpose, and that is extreme concealment and ultra convienient carriability. Unless one is naked they can conceal one of these pistols. They are lighter, smaller and flatter than a j-frame revolver. So, legal reasons aside, there is no excuse to ever be unarmed. Heck, you could even put it on a neck lanyard wrap it in saran wrap and take it in the shower with you if you really need too! :mrgreen:

You don't even have to sacrifice much in the way of power either. My friend carries a Kel-tec PF9 and it is only slightly larger than the P32. The only drawback is that even standard pressure 9mm is quite brisk in such a lightweight pistol.

i just joined and this is my first post.

i have several pocket guns(mouse?)everything is a trade off,the way i dress hardly ever allows the wearing of a belt holster and i dont like the inside type.so, for the most part the larger, and more fun to shoot guns stay at home.except for a judge and a 22 magnum,all of my hand guns are 9mm or 38spl.the largest caliber i can shoot with reasonable accuracy.
the small guns i carry are;
kahr pm9
ruger lcr
s&w airweight
taurus pt609(19oz)a little big but after awhile i dont notice

the taurus is ok to shoot,but the others i can only shoot a few rounds ,they really are not range guns.

my personal opinion is the 22 is to small for self defense,i do have a bereta 22short mouse gun that is fun.

Mouse guns fill an interesting niche. They are fun to shoot, though they can be hard on the hands. I've had several occasions where, if I didn't own a mouse gun, I'd be going out unarmed and for that I am extremely grateful for the option. I'd personally avoid the single-action revolver type such as those made by NAA, though these are well built. I just want a gun that delivers quicker time between shots (for the moderately skilled user) when I have to use a small caliber weapon for defense. The Kel-Tec .32 & .380 are great, the NAA Guardian, Seecamp pocket pistol and Beretta Tomcat are all quite reliable and would fill that niche nicely. The PPK is just too heavy to fill the mousegun niche well though I'm constantly hounded by those "in the know" that these guns are superior to all others in performance. I'd beg to differ... Get one (I mean a mouse gun). They're a hoot and a good way to stay in control of your destiny when you can't bring your trusty 1911.

Actually Glock designed and made the slide for it.

....a Grendel P-10, with an internal magazine, about the same size as a p3at. I've tried it in my pocket with a pocket holster, but it is hard to draw swiftly and smoothly, so I carry it in an NRA belt holster, same as I would a large gun. So what's the point? I ask myself.:rolleyes:
