do any of you know anyone that has a handgun permit that really shouldnt have one?
i know someone in another part of the state that got his handgun permit, and im tempted to call the tbi and tell them this person shouldnt have one much less own a firearm
ur thoughts?
Yeah, I know a couple that I have no idea how they got one outside of being just lucky enough to not have been arrested or owe child support. I know a couple guys that are great people but can't make the cut due to things like child support while some others are just a ticking time bomb and have a permit to carry.
I'm not really sure how to make it where it would be much better outside of possibly reporting those that really shouldn't have one but how do you do that? Say he/she is some Gecko-45 type guy? The sad reality is unless they have done something there is nothing that can be done. You have to wait until it's too late.
I sometimes wonder if they give some of these idiots permits for fodder to fuel the idea that no one should have one. I have no idea how to make it right and I hate the idea that some people that have no business with a weapon at all let alone a CCW. Not without making it that much harder for the ones that do deserve one.
Good point, I'm always worried that some idiot with a permit is going to ruin it for the rest of us that are responsible. Like I always say, "A license to carry is not a license to kill." The CCW permit is a huge responsibility that many people just can't live up to.Quote:

What has this person done that makes you think he should not own a firearm? Does he brandish it? Threaten people with it? Clean it without making sure the gun is empty? Has he done something illegal with the gun or just stupid? If he did something illegal, and you witnessed it, you should have called LE then. After the fact isn't much use. If he's just doing something you don't like, not much you can do about it. Unless the guy is doing something illegal, and you report it immediately, I highly doubt he's going to get a knock on the door by LE saying that they had a report he's an irresponsible gun owner and they're taking his permit and weapons away.Quote:

I don't know about other states. But yes the child support comes into play here. I guess they figure you are not paying support you are not a good candidate to carry. Unless it's open carry of course. They'll let them do that all day long.

Right, because we all will figure out who this anonymous guy somewhere in TN is based on another anonymous guy's (you) description of his behavior; and then we're going to harass him one we figure out his identity. And so what if the almost impossible happens that we do figure it out and this guy finds out that we know? Maybe it will make him get his head out of his ass and be a little more responsible with his firearms. Who knows, if he's doing something really dangerous and he gets called on it, it could save an innocent person's life (if he takes himself out, no harm, just Darwinism).Quote:

I know Colorado has a child support clause also. I'm pretty sure it is a 50 state thing.
I didn't know about all 50 but I knew there was a few anyway. I'm not sure what one has to do with another but that's the law so that's that. I origiopnally thought it might be a way to keep it from a large group of X-husbands because of some odd statistic made up someone where with divorced men and possible estranged spouse violence. I could never find that stat though and figured it was something more obscure.
