Hey everybody, I picked up a new PM40 last week and I put 150 rounds through it today.
There were no major issues, outside of a few FTF, but I'll blame that on the ammo this time. I ran a box of Winchester white box without issue, but Reminton UMC had 4-5 FTFs out of 100.
On to the question: Is this a "normal" amount of extractor wear?

Would I cause any damage by sanding/polishing this down?
Hmmm, looks kinda weird to me. For one, I've got a LOT more rounds than that through my P9 and don't have that kind of wear on it, and two, why is the wear showing up on front face of the slide? Shouldn't it be on the back part, if at all?
I agree that this is an odd spot.

That's the ejection port on the slide right. I just want to make sure I'm not looking at it all screwy. But if it is..There shouldn't be wear there anyway. nothing hits there. Or shouldn't anyway. The barrel hood should get some scratches from cycling but it looks like you have ...dents on the ejection port of the slide. It's late..Maybe my eyes are messed up..lol:smt083
The only thing that can be getting contact there (again if I'm looking at it right) are spent casings. And I don't care how many you spit out the slide wouldn't get a dent. I need a nap :oops:

Picked up a new 40 cal subcompact last week and put 150 rounds through it. I used a box of Winchester whitebox without issue and 2 boxes of Remington UMC (4-5 FTF out of 100).
When cleaning, I noticed these marks. Is this normal, I've shot several guns and don't remember similar markings. It looks like spent casings were contacting the front upper portion of the slide and the barrel is smacking the hell out of the slide.
My aim is usually pretty consistant (always decent grouping), but I couldn't get a group out of this thing at 25yds to save my life.

Those marks do look odd.
Did you try shooting at a closer distance? If it's like that at 7 yards, it's certainly the gun.
Google for Kahr barrel peening.
They have had a lot of problems with the slide to barrel fit. Appears to be your problem.

Hope they make it right for you. The whole gun felt cheap, thin polymer, crappy trigger. --This coming from a company that admits it needs a break-in period.
The only "Kahr" I'll ever buy is the kind that you drive from point A to point B with a motor and steering wheel and spelled simply "car" in the English language.
Try this- take a trimmed down piece of masking tape and cover the unusually worn area, making sure not to cover anything that will affect function. If you are experiencing ejected casing that are glancing off of those areas enough to make wear marks like that, then they should show up as marks, if not tears, in the soft masking tape.
I think its more likely a poor job of QC at Kahr. In any case, they are generally very good in customer service, but they are a smaller company and have been a little swamped recently. Seems like you're handling it in a thorough manner, though it might be good to give them a phone call as well. Good luck and keep the results posted.
I did that search and you are right. It seems to be an issue with those weapons. I don't own one nor do I see myself getting one but the info was pretty interesting.Quote:

I've dropped a few weapons in my life and got scarring like that from asphault, but wow........thats nuts. if i were you i would go to the place you bought it, and see if you could return it for a refund!!!!! Almost reminds me of the peening you get with a jennings 9 lol
