    Xdm-9

    I have recently purchased a Taurus PT 1911. I have shot a "Desert Warrior" by Kimber as well. To me, and my limited experience, they both shot equally, and amazingly well. They are much more pleasant to shoot then my Berettal M9, and I shoot them much more accurately. I find less recoil on the 1911 (45cal) then I do with my beretta M9. The 1911 is an amazing design in handguns, and I know I don't have to tell any of you that. I do have a question to ask the forum, based on my desire to add another 9mm handgun to my lonely M9: In your opiniion, what handgun under $1000 shoots as comfortably and accurately as a 1911 ?

    There are none that I enjoy shooting as much as my 1911, a Springfield Loaded Champion, which cost less than $1000. But my CZ-75B (9mm) and my XD-45 both are as 'comfortable' to shoot. The CZ is just as accurate, and the XD is close. In a revolver, my Ruger GP-100 with a smoothed-up trigger is also very pleasant, and very accurate, even with hot .357 magnum rounds.

    It's really just a matter of preference, I think. A person who shoots well can find a lot of guns he likes.

    Try the CZ 75 series in 9 mm either the SP01 or the B or BD..all CZ 75 are great and excellent shooters. They are on the heavy side since they are all steel, so that makes them a little heavy to carry..but so much fun to shoot on the range.

    If you can get the XDm 9mm for the price you said, you should grab it and never look back. The gun will shoot better than the shooter!

    bingo....

    It's not possible to answer the OP's question. "Comfortably" and "accurately" are subjective. Of course one could stick a handgun in a fixed mount and test them for accuracy, but that will not indicate how accurate a human can shoot it.

    If one likes 1911's, why not just get one in 9mm?
