Eye opener RUST TEST

I searched for this article I had seen quite a while ago. I use Break Free.
What do you guys think?

I think as long as you car for your guns regularly and clean them after they've been exposed to the elements, you could probably use corn oil and your guns would be ok. I'm surprised good old WD-40 did so well.

I've been wiping my guns down with a silicone cloth lately and that seems to stay on there pretty well also.

In the article he says under normal use almost all will suffice. After reading this article I will contiue to use BF or Eezox & feel even more confident in these products.

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic, no lie, and I have never had a rust issue. I also wipe down with a silicon cloth when I remember.

I had been using Hoppe's on my rifles for the past 15-20 years with no rust or other badness. I've been using CLP lately and it also seems good. On the other hand, all of mine get a clean and lube once or twice a year whether or not they've been used or handled and are usually cleaned after every one or two outings. I don't give rust a chance to get started! :mrgreen:

I use Hoppe's on my long and short guns for years to clean them. I use heavier to lube slide rails and other parts that have direct contact. A light oil does just fine to keep the "R" word from rearing it's ugly head. I do use silicone gun socks to store weapons that wont see the light of day all that often and that does just fine.

I am another of those weirdos that likes to get guns out to inspect, clean, and put back up on a regular basis. Being one that does trade pretty often it's a good thing to keep an eye on ones investments. Guns are a lot like CDs. you have to hold them a while to see any return. The difference being you don't have to maintain the CD I guess that's one of the things that makes CDs not near as much fun to invest in or collect :mrgreen:

I have done my own testing over the years and Breakfree has always been one of the best.

I have used break free for years...no prob here
