    Abnormal Barrel Wear?

    I put 100 rounds through my M&P this evening at the range (total of 150 rounds through the pistol at this point). The gun was properly lubricated before shooting. After I brought it home and cleaned it I noticed there were a lot of marks on the barrel, not just the lockup marks one would expect but similar marks further down the barrel. Is this normal or is there something wrong with this pistol?

    Metal parts that move against other metal parts will leave marks. That's just the way it is - friction - even a small amount - will cause wear.

    Move your slide back, and you will find that the lockup area of the barrel is not the only place where the slide contacts the barrel. From what you describe, there does not seem to be anything wrong. Then again, we cannot tell for sure since you have elected to not tell us how far these "marks" go down the length of the barrel.

    They go about as far back as is visible when the slide is locked back...so I guess based on what you've described they're normal marks.

    Umm..yup

    The slide moves back and fwd. It has contact with the barrel.
