Used pistol "should ask" questions?
Everything I have has been bought through a ffl dealer or handed down to me so I'm not familiar with trading or selling FTF. From what I understand the transaction has to be in the state of residence...correct? Aside from that what rules to people doing this go by? Just trade guns and go on your way, look at each others I.D. then make the trade or what? Just something that I have been wondering about lately as my gf is 20 and wanting a handgun and it's now legal in SC for an 18yr old to buy in a private sell.
At a minimum I would get a bill of sale.

You need to check your local state laws. I live in N.C. and the law states you are required a purchace permit even FTF sales unless you are a CHL holder. Different states different laws so check with local LEO then verify on line with state laws.
Yea a bill of sale is definate, I just started looking for her so it may be awhile before I find something she likes just wanted to know what info everybody gets from the other person. I'll type something up if and when I find something for her...does having the firearm serial number, person's name, address, and DL number along with signatures sound like enough? Is there anything like this on the net where people can just print it out?
There should be some good info here: http://www.handgunlaw.us/
I keep this bookmarked. Enjoy.
