How long is too long to keep ammo loaded in the magazine?? My XDM .40 is going to be a home defense gun that sits next to my bed. I'll shoot it every once in awhile but I'm just curious if it's very bad for the magazine if I let the ammo sit in it for some time. Thanks.
What I've heard is that sitting loaded won't hurt the spring any, but that fatigue from compressing and decompressing is what wears it out.

Keeping the magazine loaded will not wear out the spring. You have nothing to worry about.

For the most part, it's a non-issue.
I'd reccommend changing a loaded mag spring about every 45-50 years...
Just to be safe.
