If your objective is to be as quiet as possible then yes, noise is a problem. On the other hand, a BG might cringe at the sounds of the controls being manipulated.
I have a Para LDA with a safety that sounds like a blown braker switch or a Walmart lamp switch when deployed. Can be heard across a room.
Is this a tactical disadvantage in a presentation situation?

No such problem with my SiG's. I keep one chambered and unless I choose to cock the hammer (DA/SA), the first sound is gonna be "BANG". Yes, I practice DA shots when I go to the range.
The Para is a range/HD tool.
To both points above: The safety snap might be a deterrent, but it is raelly obvious what your DEFCON is.
The SIG is good. but the Para (LDA) is designd to be carried hammer down(no choice) with the safety engaged for the light trigger pull.
Would the noisey safety bother YOU?
Too bad it doesn't sound like pumping a 12 gauge Remington 870.![]()
The noisy safety would not bother me for a home defense weapon. When defending my home I would not be looking to surprise anyone. I want the bad guys to know that I am armed and that I want them out of my house.
Unless you happen to be a special forces operator that happened to drop by this forum for advice, I'd say that for any self-defense situation in which the average citizen could possibly get involved, stealth is probably not the first priority. So no, I don't think you should worry about it. Stay safe.![]()
That's a HUGE plus if you are pretty good with a somewhat rapid fire with a DA pistol. And it makes SA even easier you ask me. I carry a 229 in 40 sometimes and I practice shooting DA at targets all the time. Kind of like using that ring on a ball bat if ya can get a good group in DA pop the ring off and hammer back...lol
If you can get say...7 of 10 in a bowling pin area in like 12 seconds in DA you are really shooing.
Besides the fact that there should be about a whopping tenth of a second or less between Clack and Bang, I don't think it's a big deal either.
Zhur
I think that Click is their notice that they just messed up by coming through the door. Before I bought the Glock, it was the pump action from the .12 gauge as the .00 buck was loaded.
I think the sound of a Desert Eagle would be a nice deterrent as well...
Its just the little warning that its going to get *very* loud in a few seconds.
