Thread: New Gun ?

One of the gun magazines did an article last year on the 24/7. Might have been "Guns & Ammo", or the magazine from the NRA. Overall seemed to be a decent pistol, but I don't remember any "torture" testing.

Taurus auto's can be very good, or they can be very bad. Overall, they aren't as reliable as Glock or Sig or HK or Walther or S&W or Springfield or CZ, but if you get a good one, I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Since you already have one hi-cap poly pistol, why not look into something a bit different? For under $300, you could get a nice Walther P1 or a Sig P6, both of which are all metal single-stack 9mm's. For $40 more, you could get a S&W M&P, or perhaps a Ruger SR9.

I got my XD9SC for $399, so I think you can do a little better at that price but that's just my opinion. I personally didn't like the feel of the 24/7, but if you like it by all means consider it.

after hearing the horror stories on taurus pistol warranties no way would I buy one.get a ruger,cz,or a smith.

I don't care for the M&P but the SR9 is ok. don't think I've seen a SIG P6 or Walther P1 ? Got any pics on these 2 or links ?

I would say take a look at the cz 75D Pcr compact it is a bit more expensive but i have heard many people say that they are one of the nicest handguns on the market.

Those Walther P6's are quite inexpensive. Seems like a great deal, I wouldn't mind having one myself some day.

Are they reliable ?

I have a stainless over black model.
Pro: Great ergonomics. I love the ribber grip. SHoots great. I have had no problems with this gun but only have about 2K through it. I like the manual safety. I don't use it, but I like having it. Funny how that works. I like the ability to retap a primer that the 24/7 Pro gives. I like the status indicators.

Con: It's hard to get aftermarket stuff for the gun since it's still somewhat new as guns go. I'd love to change the trigger down to about 3.5# but can't find a new trigger set for it. Whereas with the Glock and XD, aftermarkets are everywhere.
