    Need a little advice

I am in the market for a SA/DA 9mm and am not sure wich way to go... I love the Sig 226 but it is out of my budget, I have held the 92fs/m9 and with the laser grip version it felt really good. The cz 75 b was also in the running, once again the laser grip version felt really good in the hand( and i was not really looking for laser grips but the idea is not all bad) I think the laser grip thing is just due to the large tacky grips. I am not a fan of the ruger. The cz 75 sp-01 (i think this is the right model number) is some thing else I would like try. Do any of you have any comments on the above or any ideas that I should look at. The gun will be used mostly for range and home defense, very little conceal and carry if any. Thanks in advance for any input and for helping out a newbie!

You can't go wrong with the CZ line of pistols. They are one of the best kept secrets in the world of hanguns. The 75 B or 75 BD has been at the top of my list for a long time. May get one next week if I can pass the old revolvers.
    Good luck in your choice.

You might get a CZ 85 Combat (the Combat version has adjustable sights and no mag disconnect) and add a set of Hogue grips.

Another pistol to consider is the FNP9, as they are very reasonably priced. Also consider the ex-German Sig P6's (for the most part a 225) that can be had for about $300. It is a single-stack DA 9mm. Another single-stack 9mm is the ex-German Walther P1's, which can be found in several different grades of use, including essentially unused.

As for the pistols you mention - not much to say - they are all good pistols that will serve you well, so there's not much to distinguish them apart. Just get the one that feels the best in your hand, and don't look back.

Sounds like you enjoy a thicker grip but don't want to spend over $300 for a CrimsonTrace.

One of the easiest ways to enlarge a grip, if your gun doesn't have sizing backstraps and/or grip plates, is the Hogue Handall overgrip. Much more attractive than skateboard and hockey tape alternatives I've seen used.

Well, since you liked the feel of the Beretta 92, you should seriously consider it. It is one of the world's great weapons. Extremely reliable and very accurate (5 inch barrel). It will cycle just about anything you want to put thru it, not finicky at all. It is a big gun, but you've already gripped it and obviously like it. And as you said size is not an issue since you will not be carrying it.

You can check the Beretta forum threads on this board for more research.

    +1 to that!

If the CZ feels good then get it. If the Beretta 92 feels good, then get it. Hell, get them all! But, as others have said, don't get the laser grips just because it makes the grip larger. You can get the Hogue grip cover and make the grip larger as well as more comfortable. You can't go wrong with any mentioned!

Just judging by your original post they are out of your price range. Sig & HK have the 2 best trigger systems IMO when it comes to SA/DA styles. However the Sig P226/229 and HK P30 or various models of USP run above what you seem willing to spend.

the laser grips are not something I was looking for but since they are cheaper to buy on the gun then separate I would probably take them.

I would love to have a sig 226 but i set a $600 dollar limit. THe m9 with laser come in at 605 and the cz 75 b with laser come in at closer to 505 so these are looking like my options.

    24/7

    Have you held a 24/7?
Go to a shop that sells Taurus. It will meet all of your price/performance/size parameters.

$600 limit. Buds Gun Shop. Certified Pre-Owned P226 $500 plus fees on your end.

I was in their store on Saturday. They looked great.

They also have the 92FS for $1 cheaper.

Tough choice as they are both fine guns. I just happen to like my P226 a bit better. it has been more than reliable and I haven't treated her as good as I should.

Thank goodness I don't live close enough to actually visit their store. I'd be living out of a cardboard box if that were the case......

I've only ordered once from them, but the transaction went just fine, and I'd order from them again if I needed to.

Never fired a CZ, but they feel nice in the hand. Just dry firing it felt ok. Can't say how it'd compare to the Sig trigger system as I can't fire both side by side. Good luck with your purchase anyway, I know CZ is a good name and well respected by many.
