    Finally got 'em!

Well, I FINALLY received my permit (to purchase). I purchased a Stoeger Cougar 8000 9mm that my girlfriend liked the feel of so that she could shoot something that she felt comfortable with. Also, after all of that consideration and going back and forth with prices with local dealers and others alike on the CZ 85 and the Beretta 92fs that I wanted, I actually ended up going with an XD 9mm Service model (haha, a little different than the other two, but those can come later ). I got AMAZING prices on both of these, so I just couldn't pass them up (bought the stoeger at a local shop, and got the XD new on gunbroker). I had the Stoeger in the back at the shop while waiting for my permit and when I went in to pick it up a week later, the other one's that were still on the floor were $80 higher...phew! haha So, I just tried to snap off a few pictures to share, we are going to the range tomorrow (or today if you're keeping track of time ), so I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow. Thanks for looking, I'm excited to shoot 'em!

I edited my original post, I meant that I finally received my permit to purchase, not a CCW permit, those are impossible to get around here in Iowa, and aren't even an option in Illinois That's part of the reason I'll be applying for jobs in Arizona when I graduate here soon

    Update

Well we just got back from shooting at an outdoor "pit" we call it where you can set up things to shoot with a huge dirt mound backdrop. My girlfriend loved the cougar she picked out and I really liked it as well, and all I can say is WOW for the XD. I loved them both, but the XD was just amazing. I loved how it shot, they were both extremely accurate and we put 175 rounds through each gun which no problems what-so-ever. They're great, and my girlfriend had an awesome time as that was her first time ever shooting a handgun. I have also decided that my next purchase will be a 22lr pistol, as a buddy who went with us brought his Ruger MK I and that was a ton of fun when we ran out of 9mm target rounds. So, one of those Ruger 22lr pistols will definitely be my next purchase. Anyways, just wanted to give a little update, I'm in love with the XD. (the cougar shot very nice too, I'm just a little biased ) Can't wait to get out again this Friday!

    Cougar 8000

BeefyBeefo: Sir; good feedback. Do another unbiased
about "Miss'ss Girl Friend" Cougar 8000. Sir; you can do it

Sounds like you got a good place to shoot and enjoy. PICTURES please.

Ruger MK1-11 good to great choices. What got me started down this lane of debauchery
Inherently accurate, fun, and sometimes [with all 22's] a little finicky with ammo.

    Follow up and Thanks

Just got back from the "pit" again Put 300 rounds through the XD and 200 through the Cougar with no problems at all (wow my thumbs are sore haha). All rounds were 115gr WWB and 250 of them were OLD rounds from my buddies garage from when he owned a 9mm Glock a few years back. They were tarnished and all, some almost looked black and still no problems at all in either gun. They both shot great and I still LOVE 'em! Already can't wait to get out again! Just thought I would give another little update

P.S. I definitely need to get those funds for the .22 That was $100 worth of ammo today! haha

Time to invest in a Uplula. They make loading magazines a breeze. I like them much better than the HKS magazine loader and saves your thumbs.

BTW. I'm still in love with my Stoeger Cougar too - this pistol eats everything I put through it. My reloads, factory ball, factory premium SD loads - It doesn't matter what it gets fed. I just got a Don Hume open top holster for it and just placed an order for a cross draw from Tucker. Still trying to decide whether to order more ProMag magazines for it - I only have the two factory and two ProMags right now.

It's nice to see another love affair is born. glad to hear you are having fun with your new family. Handguns are such a wonderful addiction and just a little cheaper than crack! I'm sure your girlfriend wont mind a little less going out time being now you're just going to have to get one more pistol. ..yeah...just one should do it...I mean..It's just one more little purchase...well...maybe two...But that's it!
