I've got a 4" XD .40 as my carry gun now. I'm planning on getting the 9mm XD sub-compact as my next carry gun. Ammo cost and muzzle flip/recoil on the 3" barrel being the factors.
I need a Sub-compact for carry and I am leaning hard towards the XD. What I need to figure out now is should I get a 9mm or .40cal? I have both a 9mm and .40 already but need to decide with this gun and cant seem to do so. well any input would be cool, thanks.

Duplicate the caliber of your first gun if you can. If you have a 9 or 40 by the sub compact in that caliber.
Have you tried the Glock. The reset trigger is superior.

well I have a P99 in .40 cal and a P2000 in 9mm already so either way in that matter, but it seems as if I should go with 9mm in a subcompact for recoil and what not.
That’s the other thing, I am still going back and fourth between a Glock 26/27, The XD, and M&P. Almost tried to talk my self into spending more either on a P99c or HK P2000 compact but for a carry gun I figure a reliable $500 gun should do. So many choices.
What do you dislike about your current carry gun?

I personally like a 40 over a 9mm for a carry gun. if that is my choices. I mostly carry a 45 ACP. Biggest reason for that is most all my full size guns are 1911's chambered in 45. I carry a Para LTC (commander length) or a Colt officers ACP if I'm carrying IWB or a Gov model Springer 1911 and even sometimes a Para P16 if I am wanting to do a hi-cap thing in a shoulder rig.
It's all going to boil down to what you are most comfortable with. It's going to be you behind the hammer and (God forbid) if you actually have to draw that piece you don't want to be thinking about anything except for what caused you to draw the weapon to begin with. Whatever you get take it out and shoot it as much as you can so as to be totally at comfortable with it. Calibers don't mean squat if you are worried about what's going to happen when the hammer drops and a well placed round can make it all moot. There are so many different bullet types anymore. you can create a lot of damage with a caliber that several years ago might have not been all that great before![]()
