The feel of the gun is the most important part of it for me. I can pick up a gun and I pretty well know right there if I am going to be any good with it. Took me about six months to get used to my Python and now it's like an extention of my arm.
So i wa at the range shooting my new glock model 22 .40 and just didn't like it, so i unloaded the clips took of my ear muffs, and traded it for a new XD .40, went back in and started shooting again, the XD is preety nice
but i will say out of all the .40 i own my fav is my S&W M&P.
The XD has some many great review, and so does the glock but i like the trigger pull on the XD better.
Cheers
