Personally, I don't like either one. S&W makes excellent revolvers but I have always found their semi-autos to be lacking. If I had to chose between those two then I would probably try the M&P. But honestly, I would probably chose a different brand for a semi-auto.

I have both guns in 9mm. The heavy trigger on the Sigma is about the only drawback to it. However in my opinion the M&P is well worth the price difference. The M&P is stainless steel slide, tapered front for easier re-holstering, interchangeable back straps, a normal light rail, and a much better trigger. You may get some guys bag on the Sigma but in 5500 rounds in mine it has never failed in any way. With either one you get the S&W lifetime warranty so you can't loose with a Smith.

I have no regrets with buying the Sigma 9ve. The M&P does seem quite superior though. The changeable back straps are a huge plus to fit anybody practically. I guess I never had the desire to hold the M&P. I am picking up a 4513TSW though. I like the full metal frame aspect of it. But I guess if I had a choice again, I may have gone with the M&P over the sigma.

If the guy can swing the extra cash, I'd get the M&P for the better trigger, the most important component in ease of good shooting, and possibly the backstraps if he has a smaller hand. I think we will also eventually see a much bigger selection of holsters and accessories for the M&P, since it is already being taken much more seriously than the Sigma.

since you have both - do you see any difference in accuracy and worknmanship of SIGMA vs M&P

I am noticeably more accurate with the M&P. That may have more to do with the trigger than anything else. As far as workmanship I don't know how to explain it but the fit and feel just seems superior on the M&P. When you hold them both it just feels like a better made gun.
