Went to the third show in three weeks today. Finally, someone had the gun I was looking for: the Steyr M40-A1. Price was marked at $469. CDNN has them for $350 (he had one of their catalogs right there). I tried to use this as a bargaining tool but the owner was a real jerk. I didn't expect him to drop the price to $350 because I know that's not what I would pay for it, but with CDNN I would be at or near $400 after all said and done. Even at $20 or $30 more it would have been worth it not to go through the hassle of ordering.
He then went on to "explain" to me about having to pay shipping fee (CDNN = $10 shipping anything), FFL fee ($20 for me) and tax (I am not in the same state as CDNN so null there), which I would have had to pay him anyway so not what what his point was with the tax. Anyway, he didn't even let me finish my sentence and said, "Well, just buy it from them then." and took it from me - as I was holding it at the time. Guess some sellers don't like it when potential customers are actually educated and are unable to be pushed around. Oh well, f' him. So close, yet so far.
Soooo... I think I am going to try and order one in the near future. Hope it's not a pain, for I have never done it before. I think I read somewhere once they're all gone, they're all gone...?
I held a new HK P30. It felt pretty good and the "spiderman" grips weren't bad. It bulged a bit in the middle of the grips and comes with different back-straps. A little thinner than I would like, but I could get used to it. $800.
Did make a couple purchases. Got some optics for the AR.
1) A red/ green dot guy plus riser for closer range stuff:
2) A 3x9 sniper style reticle that displays black as a 'regular' scope and also lights up red. This is mounted on top of the carry handle so I can use it for far away and still use my irons for close up if necessary.
Hopefully, once I get them sighted in, I can just swap them on and off and they'll stay sighted.
Anyway, that's my jibberish for the day.
Wow, those are some great pix ! Very clear & sharp. Nice optics too.
Sure looks good to me. Good luck with it.
That's what happens when the camera cost almost as much as the rifle.
