    Makarov Question

    I recently picked up a 1989-vinatge Bulgarian-made Makarov. After cleaning away enough cosmoline to rust-proof a six-bottom plow, I found that it's really in quite nice condition and shoots like a dream. One minor problem I've noticed, though, is that the forward part of trigger guard does not want to fully seat up into the frame. It hangs about 1/16" inch low. You can push it up to where it's flush but it won't stay there. Does that sound like the trigger guard spring and plunger need to be replaced?

    Did you replace the spring & plunger? If so, did it work?

    I've sent the gun to be reblued and am going to have the trigger guard spring and plunger replaced while that's being done. Fingers crossed. I don't know what else the problem could be, unless there was just a grondacious glob of cosmoline lurking in there.

    Grondacious is midway between bodacious and humongous.

    I get all my bluing done by a fellow named Loren Fogel over in West Mansfield, Ohio. I'm sure that it will come back looking like new!
