    Father shoots girl believed unchaste

    Amman, Jordan - A Jordanian man fatally shot his 17-year-old daughter whom he suspected of having sex despite a medical exam that proved her chastity. The man surrendered to police hours after the killing, saying he had done it for family honor. Weeks ago, the girl had returned home from a family protection clinic after doctors had vouched for her virginity and the father had signed a pledge not to harm her. The father shot the girl four times in the head Tuesday.

    Authorities have not divulged their names. In Jordon, many men consider sex out of wedlock to be almost an indelible stain on a family's reputation.

    It just shows a huge chasm, between the U.S. and other countries.

    We take freedom for granted. But on the end of the spectrum, that Jordanian father probably felt justified shooting his own daughter for the sake of his family's freedom.

    Very true....The story is sad and its criminal too us but thats how it is in there culture and I am sure he did feel justified moraly,he may even end up being found not guilty in there justice system who knows.
    We live in a country were everyday we take for granted our liberty and freedoms. But at same time should remember its not our place impose our ways of thinking opon other cultures for in there eyes some of the things we do they would also consider criminal or immoral too, while we feel justified and dont think twice of doing it.
