ATLANTA - A masked intruder claiming to be an FBI agent shot and wounded a man early Monday morning, police said.

The 53-year-old victim told police that the suspect, who kicked in the back door of the house and set off the burglar alarm, yelled "FBI, FBI, FBI" as he walked up stairs.

Cpl. Gary Syblis, spokesman for Fulton County police, said the intruder, wearing a ski mask and dark clothing, shot at the victim several times, hitting him once in the stomach. The man shot back at the suspect, and the intruder fled the house after the shooting, Syblis said.

Police did not identify the victim, who was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.

The incident is under investigation.
