Schools are really getting paranoid about visitors, especially with the recent shootings. But their security is far from effective.
I send staff into schools to evaluate children. A couple of weeks ago one of my practicum students was accosted by an assistant superintendent because she was not wearing a badge. She showed her driver's license (Canadian) and got more flak. The office was eventually called to confirm that she worked for me. She had been going to this same school for 6 months. I had forgotten about making her a badge, until this incident.
I took a digital photo of her. Loaded it onto my computer. Printed up a copy of the badge I created a couple of years ago on Word. Stuck it in one of those inexpensive plastic holders, and gave it to her.
The school is now happy because she has a "badge."
Never argue with drunks or crazy people.
