Hey guys! I have been looking into getting a 10/22 for the simple fact that I do not have one and they look like fun! I was wondering if I can see what yours looks like? I also hear that they are very customizable and would appreciate any input on some must haves. Thanks in advance for your help and pics! :-)
definately get a red dot scope for it, even a cheap one will work, and will make it so much more fun
Top one has a thumbhole stock and .920 target barrel I got from Cheaper Than Dirt, and an inexpensive 2X-6X scope. It will easily put a magazine into a dime at 50 yards. $139 for that rifle, new, before the add-ons.
The bottom one has a straight 4X scope, a Chinese AK sling, and has the barrel threaded 1/2 x 28 :). Shhh. $149 for that one, new.

Depending on your eyesight, anything over a 6X scope is overkill. A red dot will suffice for most people; it will be about as accurate as a scope at .22LR range and less expensive.
The aftermarket options are almost overwhelming. You can easily spend more on them that you did for the rifle. That's the great thing about America - have it your way.

Walmart usually has the cheapest new price on 1022's. You can get folding stocks, bulpup stocks, target stocks, and plastic stocks. any type of trigger grouping, mags of 10,20,30,60,150. Any type of siting system you could think of then there are standard ,heavy,target, fluted, ported barrels. I have a plain jane standard 1022 and love it to shoot just for fun.

Here is mine, it started out about 25 yrs ago as a stock carbine I bought for $60. I have upgraded it over the years, these guns are like a 1911 as far as availability of parts go. It has a Leupold 3 x 9 scope, fluted heavy stainless bull barrel, Hogue stock, target hammer, titanium sharp claw extractor, titanium extended bolt handle with tool steel guide rod. I polished up the internals when installing the hammer. The trigger breaks at a nice crisp 2lbs. When I do my part, off the bench at 50 yds, it will shoot a 10rd mag of Winchester Power Points into one ragged hole. This rifle is hell on turtles and other assorted varmints. If you want a very reliable 22 rifle, the 10/22 with stock Ruger mags is the way to go. About the only thing they really need to make them a good shooter is a decent trigger, the stock trigger pull is way too heavy.
