Back from the gunshow... Musings.....

Well, I went to the large Houston gun show this morning. Had over $800 w/ me.

I looked around and around and around. I did see a Beretta 86 Cheetah new - the one w/ the tip up barrel. I REALLY, REALLY wanted one of these in early 2005. I looked all over and could not track down a new one. It was $579. I thought about it a long time, but don't really want one now as much. So, I let it pass.

Looked at some AR's. Started to get a small interest in them lately after looking at so many pics of them. But, not really my thing. I've never been much of a rifle person, to be honest. The Keltec 9mm carbine that works with the Glock mags was tempting - for less than $300. While you would loose the folding ability if ya attached a scope or a rail to it, it appeals to me more than spending a lot more for a Beretta Storm. But, I passed that too.

Looked at tons of pistols and 1911s. Been a big 1911 fan for years. Have owned 5 in my lifetime (have none now). Always had some sort of issue w/ each one of them. Now that I have my fav gun - the P99, they just no longer appeal to me. I can shoot the P99 just as well. As for all the other guns - I picked up dozens of guns and held them. Truth is, I have gone thru so many various makes and models over the past 10 years. I've sold and traded in many guns. I've had my fill of so many brands and models. I have 6 handguns now - 6 that have taken me years to find ones that I can say I will not get rid of them anymore. I don't really see anything else (pistols) out there worth getting.

I'll admit that only the PS90 interests me right now. I like the feel of it when ya bring the stock up to the shoulder. I haven't sold my telescope yet, however, so I didn't have the cash. I do have a good lead, however, and may have it sold soon. Maybe when the next Reliant show comes around in Jan, I can get that PS90. If not... I think I'll try something that is a novel concept to me. I'll keep my gun money, unspent, and in the bank.... Yes, I am shocked too :smt103 :smt103 :smt103 :smt103

I can tell you one thing for sure Ship, send me to a gun show with $800, and I'll come home broke every time. That's a given. Last time I traded 2 guns for one, and some cash. Took the cash, and bought another one. Time before that I threw the plastic down not once, but twice. I am addicted.

Since you didn't find a gun to buy, maybe you should have bought a safe.

Any thoughts of getting a 357 revolver? You probably need one to balance out your autos.

I looked at revolvers a bit a few months ago. If I were to get one, it would be a Ruger 357 GP100. But, I've never been a revolver guy. Always liked semi-autos. I have fired revolvers over the years. But, I really don't want to own one. I looked at the Rugers today, but decided I'll probably never buy a Revolver.

Its tough for me to get cash to buy guns w/o selling something that's already "mine" in order to buy one. So, unless I manage to get that PS90, I'll just hang onto the cash until I do see something that really gets me.

No, I'm just tired of buying guns that I end of either not liking so much later, or guns that I will end up having to sell when I find something else later. I really have gone thru quite a few guns in recent years. One, I'm kinda tired of it and the money I loose each time. And, I have pretty much every pistol I want right now. It was a long, expensive road to get to here

And, there is 1 thing I want - the PS90. SHort of that, I am content.

I actually had $835

I even looked at the P99 Quick Actions again. But, I don't like the trigger. One table had the tan P99s for as low as $464. But the tan frames only come in 40 cal. For that price, I may have gotten it had it been in 9mm. They cost around $4530-$550 at the cheapest generally. But, oh well...

If all goes well, I'll have my PS90 at the next gun show.

Only one 1911 felt good and caught my eye. I really liked the big, bright white dot novak sights that were on it. Unfortunately, it was 1 of the various models of the Sig Revolution. Too many hit and miss reports on reliability to go with those.

Shipwreck,I feel for you! Last show I went to the only thing that caught my eye was a 1900 factory engraved,nickle,ivory,5 1/2" COLT .45 Peacemaker with paperwork and in glass cased box.$800.00 wouldn't touch it

Ship, maybe you should abandon gun shows and just put that time and effort (and cash) into becoming a certified P99 distributor. Then you could handle and shoot and own dozens of P99's. Just a thought to try to save you the frustrations of considering owning something other than an P99.

I think U are right. I am ruined for all of my other pistols. If I didn't already have the Glocklight, my Glock 34 wouldn't be my night stand gun - my P99 would be

And, everything else feels like a block in my hand except the P99. I need to see if the home owners association will let me open a P99 museum in my home or something

I know the feeling at gun shows, if you don't buy a gun feels like you wasted the day. I do more research/talk to owners read up on the guns i buy know.
been burnt too many times, gun did not shoot the way it should or later on just did not like the gun.
