I saw a report in my local paper that Walther USA headquarters are puzzled by an apparent break-in over last week-end. Entry was gained by exploiting an unlocked door, and no firearms or parts were stolen.
However, the corporate marketing office was cleaned out of nearly all promotional materials - posters, brochures, even dealer demonstration videos were taken. John Frasier, Senior Marketing Manager said that the thief was pretty thorough and very neat. "Whoever this guy was, he was polite. He dusted my office and washed the office coffee pot. Nobody around here does that."
Police are investigating.
On an unrelated note, I stopped by Shipwreck's place yesterday - he took me on a tour of, what he calls, "My P99 Shrine". Now this is not a spare bedroom done over - this is a Butler Building - carpeted and fitted with stained-glass windows featuring verious models of the P99 - and every conceivable poster Walther and Smith & Wesson has ever released. Near the front are a series of tables with brochures and handouts. And at the back is a 53" monitor showing continuous product demonstrations of the P99 in action.
Just thought you would like to know.
