I thank God every day for the men and women who serve......Please thank Jake for me....Semper Fi..........USMC 66-72.....JJ
I literally thank God for this. My son, Jake, is a US Marine. He is returning from his first tour in Afghanistan tomorrow, and will be back home on April 8th. God and an M240B had a LOT to do with that.

A big THANKS from my family, and myself
God bless ya folks. And, my brother Marines--it means a lot to hear from you.
This Sailor also Salutes your son.
Vv, US Navy 1971-1979
Thank him for me too.
Thank your son and give him a big "Semper Fi" from me, too! USMC 1969-1973. My boy is in the Air Force and is going to Afghanistan this Sept. Even though he is Air Force working with computers, he will be assigned to work with the Afghan Police for some reason....which I find odd but then, like in the Marines, they send you where they think they need you. I am beginning to understand how my parents felt when I was sent to Vietnam.
Well, the child had his leave. He bought a car while he was back here, and as we sat in the dealership he nudged me and said "You're driving back to Pendleton with me, right?" Well how do you turn THAT down??? So we drove back to Pendleton together and had a GREAT trip. I took the Amtrak train home, and THAT was a great trip. I ran into a hippie from Eugene Oregon with some of the best stories I'd ever heard. I'm sure some of them were true...One started off with "So I fell in with this group of polyamorous Jewish women..." It sounded like the opener to a joke, but he was serious!
Best of all, as I departed Oceanside my 6'6" son gave me a bear hug, thanked me, and wished me well. I rubbed the back of his head gently and wished him well too, told him that I loved him, and we parted ways for a while. What a kid!
