18 yr vet.....probably got the "it cant happen to me" mentality from his years on the force, getting complacent can be a killer

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – An officer accidentally shot himself in the hand in a parking garage at Lambert International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The 18-year veteran officer was unloading his gun to clean it when the shot was fired in Terminal 1 at the airport. The officer is at a nearby hospital in stable condition and will likely need surgery.

Couldn't he wait to get home, or at the department to clean it? Or better yet, clean it before he goes on duty? Sounds awful glocky to me?

Poor guy screwed up big. Keep finger off trigger.
The hand is very delicate and complex. I hope he can get back function.
