If they shoot horses can you shoot apples too?

I hate apple. HATE may be too weak a word to describe how I feel. THey are thieves - having not only stolen the better part of 8 hours of my life today, but now they've stolen a lifetime of music and $20 some dollars in apps too.

See, I was trying to be the good father and get my son an iPod touch. Seems he's the only one in 5th grade without one (or an iPhone instead).
I know from past experience apple sucks - syncing and updating and such an ipod is a nightmare fraught with frustrations and dangers.

So to make sure things will work I figure to sync mine - I know it works. OK....7.5 hours and 4 computer reboots later and still it won't work...
Lets try a different computer....DL itunes and all the other apple crap and sure, it 'backs up'....but see, apparently it's been synced with another computer and there is no way (that I can find after an hour plus of trying) to change that. I answer NO to erase and sync and such several times....after the updates it's wiped it clean of everything.

8 hours and some and I've turned a useful piece of hardware into little more than a paperweight. POS apple.

Now I get to do that to the new (well, used) one.

Apple sucks and I'll never ever give them a dime of my money. (second ipod bought used - they got none of my money on that sale thankfully)

I was considering an iPhone for my next phone - no way in hell is that gonna happen.

PS: I've spent all day sayiing NO WAY to iCloud...and just got an email welcoming to the cloud and please follow these instructions to set it up....

I haven't heard many problems with people using an iPod. I have heard more people having problems getting songs (not the ones bought legally) to download than actually getting them on the machine. Sorry you have been struggling with it. I wish I could help, but it has been so long since I have messed with one I don't think I could get it working from just typing on a forum.

On a differnt computer I got things to DL and to work. My son's ipod worked like things are supposed to - plug in, name it, and go. (same generation as mine). I have friends and employeed with ipods and all have experienced some level of difficulty at one time or another. Apparently ios5 can 'check in' over wifi so that should help so I'm told. I guess we'll see!

Apple is also stupid in other ways...they took a long long time to put multitasking on their devices. Why?
I got my iPod touch mainly for work - to keep my contacts/schedule on, and since then I've put other apps on there. Great - unless you need to access the wifi. Then you need to type in the password every time....even on my home network. Why can't it remember it?????? With ios5 now it can - now it stays online (so far) while I'm at home. This should have been this way all along. How it works when i walk into starbucks or something should be interesting...we'lll see.

Apple claims to offer products that the non-nerd can operate.

A friend's daughter broke her ipod screen so friend took it into the apple store. Been 2.5 months now...still not fixed. "wrong screen came in"..."screen broke upon installation" "wrong screen" a second time, then another "broken screen" and the last was "screen in and working, but falls out when you pick up the ipod. researching issue"

Gimme a geek and a nerd anyday!
