Perhaps the ultimate " bad day"

Just read a news story about the Dallas Tx. police chief. Seems his son was killed in a shootout with with Dallas police. According to the story a policeman from an adjoining department was also killed. I guess he had been in trouble several times over the past few months, and this one " went south" in a hurry. That is a bad situation to be placed in- your officers did the right thing, but they killed your son doing it.

Wow that has a lot more facts than the account I read. This is a bad day on a whole lot of levels. Starting with the apparently innocent bystander who evidently did not have a weapon to defend himself and his family with, and died because of it. A policemans family lost him on Fathers day, and the Chief lost his only son on Fathers day. I cant think of much that could make this a worse situation. It is a shame the apparently innocent man was not trained and armed- If he had been, both him and the Lancaster officer might still be alive. I certainly dont want to turn this into a "CCW would have prevented this" thread, but it does make you think about what could happen on any given day or place.

Either way it is certainly a tragic situation, horrible to hear a story like that, and even worse...on fathers day.
