Served on two Army Pistol Teams
During my brief military service I served on two pistol teams, a rimfire team with the 10th Infantry at Camp Roberts, Calif, and a .45 Team with the 3rd Infantry in Korea.
The rimfire team had some of the first Ruger Mk Is ever used by the Army. We won our company a trophy, from 6th Army, I believe.
The .45 team didn't fare so well. Competition was high as winning teams got to advance to Hawaii. We stayed in Korea.
Our rimfire team was the only one equipped with Rugers, most had the Colt Match Woodsman or the High Standard Trophy.
States side teams fared pretty well, shooting every other day. In Korea, duty came first and we frequently postphoned matches to take up positions along the DMZ.
That's pretty cool. Interesting.
Also, thanks for doing your part by serving in our military.
