Over the nearly 20 years I have been in amateur radio, I almost always have at least one person from Nigeria offering to send me a cashier's cheque for something like $5000 for a $100 item I am selling. All I have to do is put his check in my bank, deduct the selling price of my item and send him the balance.

You get them over ham radio too? That seems kinda personal to me, I've heard the amateur radio community is close-knit.

I just put some model railroad stuff on Craigslist (so I could buy a new 45 SA revolver) and I even had one over there!

About five years ago my boss passed away. His wife had his Honda Goldwing on Ebay and got the same scam offered to her. Well she took the bait and ended up loosing several thousand. Pretty sad stuff when you see it first hand.
